Tucker and Grampa at the Marine memorial

Our tour guide John Bowlen was great.

General Robert E Lee's plantation is now Arlington Cem. The house on the hill was his home.

Sunday we had a church service on the bus on the way to Arlington Cemetery. We made it to the 8:30 changing of the guard at the Tomb of The Unknown Soldier. We toured Arlington for 2 hours and then headed to the Marine Memorial - Iwo Jima Monument. Then on to downtown to see the Smithsonian Museums. In downtown DC the 100th Anniversary Scout parade was preparing to roll, it was 100 F and way too hot to even watch the parade much less march. We heard on Monday that lots of scouts and adults were over come by the heat.

The Smithsonians were really cool - pun intended. It rained around 4 pm and cooled off the town. We had a great dinner and then saw the FDR Memorial and then Jefferson. Before heading back to the hotel in one of the most beautiful sunsets I have seen in a long time.
